Commented Unassigned: Tomb Raider SLES-00024 Freezes on Starting a New Game [12194]

Hey. I am running my own copy of a Tomb Raider 1 disk (SLES-00024) and I am unable to start a new game - the screen just goes blank and I can hear that the disk stops spinning/reading. I have downloaded several iso dumps online and get the same issue. Tested with builds 1.9.94 and my own compiled 97494 on Mac OS 10.10.4.
Anyone else get this issue or offer a solution? Thanks.
